About Kevin Beesley
Kevin Beesley is not your average accountant.
In 1986, he received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, then proceeded to be an owner of a variety of businesses where he worked in accounting and marketing management roles. He was a co-owner of an independent record label (Mint Records) and a telephone dating service (Teligence).
In 2008, Kevin’s family decided to move to the US. With a US wife and son, he found getting a green card was simple – but despite his background in accounting in Canada and his business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, he was surprised how hard it was to file his family’s US tax return. He decided to dive into understanding the beast known as the Internal Revenue Code.
Between 2009 – 2011, he went to St. Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington to complete the accounting education requirements to become a US tax professional.
In 2011, he joined Stephen Katz Limited (which became SKL Tax). For one very long year, he commuted to work from Olympia Washington to Vancouver, BC. His family moved back to Canada in 2012. For 5 years, he worked directly with Stephen Katz, one of Vancouver’s most respected US tax attorneys. During his years at SKL Tax, he provided tax consulting and compliance for US individuals living in Canada. He helped many individuals, catch up on their US taxes, file their annual taxes, move to/from Canada, and expatriate from the US.
In 2014, he became a US CPA (Washington State licence #33004)
In 2016, he founded Kevin Beesley US Tax Services.
In 2019, after 5 years of studying, he was presented with his Masters in Science (Taxation) from Golden Gate University.
In his spare time, Kevin enjoys music, coaching house league hockey, traveling, playing poker, and numerous board games with his family. He has performed around the world as a bass player in The Smugglers and The Rodney Graham Band.
